Organising your everyday university life

Whether you are looking for cheap accommodation and food, travel, sporting activities or to develop your professional career, here you'll find services and special offers for some 75,000 Lorraine students helping them organise their daily lives throughout the course of their studies.

Grants, accommodation, food, student jobs: the Nancy-Metz CROUS Centre

Submitting an application for a grant or university accommodation? Finding out the addresses of the 16 Lorraine U restaurants? Finding a student job? Visit the Nancy-Metz CROUS website. The Centre Régional des Œuvres Universitaires et Scolaires or regional university student centre is there to "help you in your daily life and improve the conditions of student life".

Digital services and documentary resources

Using a personal computer account called "Sesame", every student at the University of Lorraine can access their own ENT (Digital Working Environment). This virtual space can be used to view notes, exam dates or online courses, follow the news about university life, personal messaging and more. The Digital Department of the University of Lorraine also provides information about the various digital services on offer to students such as the Wi-Fi network deployed across all campuses, file transfer services, web conferences, etc. Articles, reviews, theses and databases are also accessible online at BU.univ-lorraine.fr. This website, shared by 26 university libraries across Lorraine provides a catalogue of over one million books and provides all the practical information about the university libraries (BU) including addresses, opening times, loan conditions, etc.

Sports, culture and associations

From team sports to athletics including taekwondo or caving, the University Service for Physical and Sporting Activities (SUAPS) offers a wide range of activities. Looking for a cultural event? Discover the conferences, exhibitions and shows scheduled throughout the year on the cultural calendar of the University of Lorraine. Competitions and student offers can also be found in the "Culture" section of the CROUS. And if you want to become part of an association project or student initiative, simply go into one of the 7 Lorraine Student Life Offices (BVE - Bureaux de la vie étudiante) or Students Union (MDE - Maisons de l'étudiant).

Health and disability

Do you need to see a doctor, psychologist or gynaecologist? Are you interested in first aid training? Register with the SUMPPS services (University Service of Preventative Medicine and Health Promotion) of the University of Lorraine. Disabled students also have a specially designed website: handicap.univ-lorraine.fr. This platform provides useful contacts and details the various types of support available such as organising exam conditions, help with taking notes, interpretation into French sign language (FSL), etc.

Orientation and professional integration

In Metz, Nancy and Vandoeuvre, the Orientation and professional integration service of the University of Lorraine (SOIP) assists students in constructing their study project or professional career. The service provides information about training or jobs, meetings with a professional careers guidance counsellor, interview simulations, etc. The "student insertion" platform, Platine also distributes training, job and sandwich course offers to Lorraine students, PhD students and graduates.
