ISFATES celebrates 35 years of collaboration between French and German universities

A symbol of successful Franco-German higher education collaboration, ISFATES celebrates its 35th anniversary this November. This establishment has awarded more than 2,500 joint Bachelor and Master degrees established between the University of Lorraine and the University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken.

More than 500 former students have responded to its invitation. The Franco-German Higher Institute of technology, economics and science celebrates its 35th anniversary this November. Founded in 1978 as an intergovernmental initiative, it was the first higher education establishment to offer Franco-German educational programs. Resulting out of a merger between the University of Lorraine and the University of Applied Sciences in Saarbrücken (Hochschule für Technik und Wirtschaft des Saarlandes, HTW), ISFATES has already graduated some 2500 Franco-German students. This university structure now boasts the largest number of students and courses approved by the Franco-German University (UFA in French).

"To promote the practice of foreign languages, intercultural exchange and mobility"

ISFATES awards six degrees (bachelor) and eleven Masters in logistics, management science, computer science, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and electrical engineering. The study programs are delivered in both France and Germany, where students attend the entire course in unison. This bi-national education approach promotes the practice of foreign languages, intercultural exchange and mobility. The Civil Engineering and Management in Europe Degree has also been tri-national since 2005 as a result of a partnership with the University of Luxembourg. What do graduates from ISFATES go on to do? Graduates have gone to work as industrial management controllers, logistics coordinators, consulting engineers, client managers, engineering managers, etc.

    One curriculum for two degrees
Since its creation in 1978, the ISFATES has educated over 2000 Franco-German graduates in the domains of engineering, logistics and management.
