The scientific project of the INSERM 11 Region Team explores the relationships between the exposure of populations to physico-chemical or biological agents present in the professional or general environment and the premature biological, functional or clinical consequences of such exposure. The exposure is characterised by means of tools and/or methods making it possible to approach the quality of environments as closely as possible to the contact spaces, whereas the studies of the effects is interested in a privileged manner in the initial biological manifestations of the resulting structural or functional alterations. The interaction between environmental stressors and nutritional balance in explored.
Anchored in the scientific and public health environment of the Nancy site, this project also brings to light the close entanglement of problems and approaches aimed at the evaluation of risks of professional or general environmental origin.

Cancer, respiratory allergies, balance problems, microbiological risks, exposure biomarkers, in relation to the professional or general environment and nutritional behaviours.

Non-invasive evaluation of inflammation of the airways in young workers exposed to inhaled agents, risk factors of professional asthma.
Research program aimed at systematically detecting professional exposure among cases of bronchial or bladder cancer specifying the populations the most at risk of developing these cancers according to the principle known risk factors.
Evaluation of biological indicators of a complex environmental exposure to genotoxic and carcinogenic agents.
