The CRM2, Laboratory of Crystallography and Modelling of Mineral and Biological Materials, is a research laboratory associated to Henri Poincaré University and the CNRS. It develops and uses crystallography, photocrystallography and the diffraction of x-rays in varied scientific sectors going from mathematic crystallography to biocrystallography, including molecular materials, composite structures and piezo and ferroelectric materials, all in using the resources of the laboratory or synchrotrons.
The goal of the research is to understand the relationship between the structure, electronic structure and the properties of the materials studied or biomolecules, in a way to design molecules, materials or biomolecules with defined properties.

The LCM3B participated in the promotion and is now very implicated in the construction of the "Crystal" line to SOLEIL (centre of French cyclotron radiation).
The laboratory also puts its platform of X diffraction measurements, its workshops and its programs at the service of academic and industrial researchers.
