Presentation of the structure

The Regional Centre of Innovation and Transfer of Technology for the Transformation and Processing of Metals and Alloys (CM2T) has the missions of promoting the implementation and processing of metals and alloys. It accompanies businesses of the metallurgy, mechanics and metalworking sectors in technological developments. With scientific and technical means from the most classic to the most specialized at its disposal, it brings its competences and know-how. Clean procedures, functional products… : the engineering work of the CM2T accompanies innovative technology projects, creators of high added value jobs.

transformation and processing of metals and alloys, developing of metallic materials, processing, thermochemical, brazing, coatings, deposits, industrial transfer, metallurgy training, documentary research, characterization by measurements of thermophysical properties, diagnostics, applied research and development of solutions against wear, prototype and pre-series manufacturing of pieces and tools, technological watch

The CM2T relies on its own resources and those of partner laboratories (INPL and UHP), notably the supporting laboratory LSG2M at the Ecole des Mines of Nancy.
Since 2003, the CM2T implemented a secondary institution "Lorius" in Longwy, specialized in technologies of controlling wear and with innovative equipment at its disposal: Cold Spray projections, HVOF, PTA surfacing, ESD, wear and means of thermal treatments trial and test benches, notably by fluidised bed furnaces.
At the same time, the CM2T reinforces its research and development activity on brazing in the framework of the MATBRAZ centre and thus benefits from access to an innovative brazing installation for industrial services and the transfer of competences.

For public / paragovernmental businesses and partners, the CM2T guarantees personalized service, being put into contact with a single representative able to mobilize all the available resources and to propose the following services :
Made to measure activity :
Personalized "process/product/material" finalization/development services and collaborative R&D programs in the domains of development, transformation and processing of metals and alloys. In this framework, CM2T develops innovative processing solutions by calling upon competitive means in order to work from the prototype scale to pre-series of industrial pieces.
Activity from catalogue :
This activity is essentially linked to industrial needs in business, trials, test, characterization of metallic materials. It implements laboratory means either on the sample scale, or on the pieces scales. Generally, it makes it possible to identify the causes of pieces/tools breaking and damage and to make the metallic pieces forming and processing simulation software function.
Training activity, intra or inter-businesses, in the domains of metallurgy, materials, brazing processing, anti-wear, anticorrosion :
- Accompaniment of a transfer operation for complete technology integration with training of the operators in the new applied technologies ;
- Response to the specific needs of the company as far as qualification of its human resources by training is concerned.
Technological information activity :
- Organization of technological days and technical meetings in order to detect industrial needs and to promote innovative processes, products and materials ;
- Participation in symposiums, seminars and professional trade shows in order to assure a real time technological watch, initiate new collaborations and to identify potential partners for the current programs.
