For its 13th edition, the Researchers Film Festival takes place right through 2012. Main meetings have been arranged from 6th to 10th June at the Parc de la Pépinière in Nancy: competition of scientific films, competition of "budding researcher" films from Lorraine pupils, professional meetings…

5 days of screenings, 12 films selected from the 123 entered… The Researchers Film Festival offers a new rich and interesting edition. Free and loyal to its motto, "help people understand, know about and like what researchers do", this event co-organised by the CNRS and the University of Lorraine reinforces its ambition to "make research valued by the general public via an audacious and generalised selection of scientific films ". On the programme of this 13th edition: a film competition, budding researcher competition, professional meetings, ten events in the Lorraine…

From the 6th to 10th June at the Parc de la Pépinière in Nancy, the general public can discover 12 competing films. They will all be shown in the presence of the researcher author and/or the film maker. 2 prizes of 5000€ and 3000€ will be awarded by a jury made up of scientists and media professionals. Professional meetings will also be organised on the 8th June. Their objective: enable engineers, doctoral students and lecturer-researchers to present their research work to audiovisual professionals with a view to making a film or a scenario.

Another eagerly awaited event: the budding researcher competition on the 7th June. Here, primary school pupils will discover the scientific audiovisual creations filmed by secondary school pupils. At the invitation of the Lorraine CRDP, the UFM and the education authority’s academic inspectors, these "budding researchers" participated in the writing and making of films which "retrace the course of an experimental process". Lastly, new for the 2012 edition, the "Researchers Film Festival Rendez-vous" will be organised in the autumn in the towns of Dommartemont, Champenoux, Bar-le-Duc… These free evenings will be centred on projections and debates in the presence of researchers and/or film-makers. They aim to "reach out to a non initiated public and give the event new depth".
