Business Plan : a coach's advice

The Strategy and Values (Stratégie et Valeurs) firm director, Philippe Schmitt is one of the 300 interregional business plan course 1,2,3,GO experts. He has followed 4 projects since 2007. Meeting.

What advice would you give project carriers ?

Philippe Schmitt :
The coach's contribution takes the needs of the project carrier and the level of integration and conformity of his Business Plan into account according to the McKinsey© model that was used for evaluation. Initially, it consists of implementing methodological tools to facilitate the definition of success factors. The idea is to place the project in the activity sector's economic realities. What are the precise needs, especially the financial ones ? Which action plans can one implement ? This stage is important but often it is discouraging. The coach is a guide who facilitates the identification of risks and distancing in relation to the desired situation. What counts is not just receiving an award at the end of the course, but the path taken to achieve it.

Examples ?

Here are 2. In the 1st, the Business Plan has already been developed ; mostly I intervened to clarify the marketing and commercial policy. I had the pleasure of seeing this project awarded. In the 2nd, technically the project was well finished and the ideas were clear enough; however, many methodological elements were absent. The project carrier and I have exploited the maximum number of available tools and methods and developed a real Business Plan. The result of the course doesn't matter; we both really learned a lot. He learned a lot about methodology and strategy and I gained knowledge about the activity sector of his project.

What does coaching bring you ?

First of all, from a professional point of view, it is to belong to an international network of experts who are impassioned and enthusiastic about the same thing: sharing and transmitting their experiences. Confronting my ideas and models with those of others is very enriching. Each coach/project carrier relationship is a unique experience. Understanding the points that have made the project's success are just as many possible paths for me to improve my own consulting business. The inter-culturality is an interesting component of the program: physically crossing the frontiers of a country is also to go beyond one's own intellectual frontiers. The 1,2,3,GO network is the "melting pot" where all our strengths mix. Without a doubt, it is one of the crucibles for the next progresses in the Greater Region. 1,2,3,GO is an international network with established fame (it suffices to read the course project statistics). Membership in this network enabled my own company to benefit from strong co-branding communication that is shown in its own renown.
