Erasmus

The Europe of postsecondary education working

Erasmus celebrated its twentieth birthday in 2007. Thanks to it, over one million and a half young people have travelled in Europe. The objective of this program of the Union is double : "To promote and reinforce the quality and the European dimension of postsecondary education and to favour the mobility of students in Europe". Concretely, Erasmus allows students to do a part of their studies (from 3 months to a year) outside of France. No additional registration fee is required by the hosting university, and this stay is taken into account for the obtaining of the diploma. Each student only benefits once from this program. It is accessible starting from the second year of study up to the doctorate.

90% of all European universities participate in Erasmus. The program is open to the public educational institutions of the 27 member states of the Union, Turkey and AELE (see below*) member countries (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland).
* This is also known as the EEA zone European Economic Area

An Erasmus European Union grant can be attributed to students. The request is made to the institution of origin.
On average, this allowance reaches around one hundred Euros per month. In Lorrain, the Regional Council grants complementary aid.
