The Hubert Curien Days are also an opportunity to raise young researchers' awareness and train them in the forces at play and the techniques of science mediation. Before the international conference, 130 doctoral students will learn how to make a film, produce a play or use social networks to make their future work accessible to the general public.

"We have received over 700 applications from all over the world !" : Patrick Baranger, secretary general of the 4th Hubert Curien Days, is still bowled over by the success of the "PhD Students' Days". Organised as part of the 4th International Scientific, Technical and Industrial Culture Encounters in Nancy, these days are for future researchers from all disciplines "whether or not they have experience in science mediation". For two days, they will have their awareness raised about the forces at play in science mediation and they will learn to "communicate with the man in the street".

In Nancy from 2 to 4 September then, 130 PhD students are going to learn to master various communication channels. "Classic tools like film, articles, blogs, exhibitions and other more specialised media, such as theatre, clown-style shows, comic strips or social networks." Attendees are offered a total of 10 workshops. Every one of them will be led by 3 or 4 professionals: science film producers, theatre directors, illustrators or scientific journalists. And everyone will have to "pitch in", says Patrick Baranger. "During the science film workshop, for example, they won't be in front of the camera but behind it, wearing the producer's hat !"

Experimentarium : young researchers unveil themselves Started in Dijon, the Experimentarium now exists in the Lorraine region. This mechanism invites and trains young researchers to speak about their work in public through "workshop-discussions".
