Presentation of the structure

The CETIM is an Industrial and Technical Centre created in 1965 upon the request of the mechanical industrialists. Its objective: the growth of the competitiveness of businesses. The Lorraine delegation, by its knowledge of the local industrial fabric, the authorities and problems specific to the region, is able to quickly understand the needs and efficiently answer to them. It plays a role of interface between CETIM’s experts, the industrialist and the local organizations dedicated to industry.

fatigue of mechanical components, dimensioning simulation and programs, engineering monitoring and measurements, machines and orders, noise and vibration engineering, metallic materials and surfaces, quality safety environment, production technology, engineering of industrial performance, expertise metrology calibration, engineering of polymer and composites, sealing technologies, fluid and flow techniques

The CETIM received the general mission of promoting the progress of techniques, participating in the improvement of productivity and the guarantee of quality. It carries out works of collective interest in order to accompany the businesses in their development :
- Technological intelligence : systematic collection of technological and regulatory information interesting the mechanics is made on the international level. After analysis and summary, this information is diffused to businesses in order to improve their decision making.
- Normative and regulatory work : financial support to the Union of Standardization of Mechanics (UNM); pre-normative studies consisting of reuniting all the technical data necessary for the development of standards; participation of experts in the standardization commissions and groups; development at access use help tools of the standards.
- Transversal research and development actions : exploratory studies on emerging technologies and development of generic products and services.
- Profession specific research and development actions : professional studies whose program is from a prioritization of the needs by a representative group of industrialists.
Global and personalised offer of services to companies carried out with strict imperatives of confidentiality, objectivity, timeframe and cost :
- Development or optimization of products and processes ;
- Studies and implementation of organizational or technical solutions ;
- Expertise ;
- Monitoring, tests and qualification

The Lorraine CETIM hired, from 2008, the Gipem (Sustainable industrial management of energy for mechanical enterprises), collective action for the benefit of SME of the mechanical sector. Starting from a global diagnostic, the CETIM wants to make it possible for participating businesses in Lorraine to make direct financial gains by implementing simple and efficient energy management in order to increase their productivity. This action is lead in partnership with the CCI of Vosges and the financial support of the DRIRE Lorraine, the Region and the ADEME Lorraine.
On the national level, examples of projects carried out by CETIM are numerous: Inoforges (piece simulation), Jousseau (implementation of a safety management system in the workshops), Montupet (telemetry), Buisard (welding procedures and methods and complements of training for welders and operators), EDF Septen (studies on machining conditions)...
