Eurêka : Lorraine confronts the challenge of the knowledge economy

Le 11/09/2008

The Eurêka portal : presentation and objectives by Jean-Pierre Masseret, President of the Regional Council of Lorraine.

The Internet site on which you discover these lines translates a common ambition : that of researchers, teachers, entrepreneurs and decision makers brought together during the Regional Meeting of Postsecondary Education, Research and Innovation. All thereby affirmed their will to place Lorraine at the heart of the knowledge economy such as defined by European Council of Lisbon.

Baptised Eurêka, this website is first of all a portal. Over one thousand files strong, it lists and orients the Internet user towards all the parties involved in structures or schemes linked to this regional knowledge economy : postsecondary educational institutions, degrees and diplomas, laboratories, technological platforms, scientific and technical centres of research, economic actors and measurements…

A website of information, each month Eurêka will propose portraits, reports, interviews, surveys or an agenda. This portal thus intends to become the witness of the relevance and dynamism of the teaching, research and innovation in the region.

Available in French, German and English, Eurêka was designed to be the ambassador of a territory on the national and international scene. Its mission: to seduce and attract promising students, motivated teachers, talented researchers and innovative entrepreneurs in Lorraine.

By nature, this tool also constitutes a melting pot within which the regional actors of postsecondary education, research and innovation are found and meet each other. Eventually, Eurêka will, without a doubt, constitute the cement in this regional knowledge community.

A place of exchanges and resources, Eurêka is finally destined to be a courier of knowledge. It wants to favour transfers of competences, knowledge and technology between lecture halls, laboratories and businesses.

Financed by the Regional Council of Lorraine, Eurêka fits into the strategy deployed by a government convinced that today innovation and knowledge are the keys to the economic growth and development of the entire territory.
