Handicapped persons in the Lorraine region

 

Improving the daily life of handicapped persons is a concern shared in the Lorraine region by universities, laboratories and businesses. A review of the innovative projects, initiatives currently underway and practical information for students.
 
 
  "Health, quality of life, handicap". This theme is one of the five research axes developed by the MSH Lorraine. Follows are inter-disciplinary projects like Handiquality (Handiqualité) or SEXHI which should result in concrete proposals.
 
  Specialized in man-machine cooperation, the PVU-M's Human Engineering and Behavioral Sciences Laboratory (HEBSL) (Laboratoire d'Automatique humaine et de Sciences comportementales) is betting on multi-disciplinary research to develop applications that encourage independence.
 
  Built at the Supélec campus in Metz, Smartroom is a platform for experimentation. Open to researchers, students and businesses, it allows for developing research to restore the independence of dependent persons.
 
  Students suffering from major physical disabilities will soon have a new residence available. Currently under construction in Vandoeuvre-Lès-Nancy, it should open its doors during the first semester of 2010. It will offer an adapted living environment and medical supervision nearby.
